SEMINARS

Please note, that although we schedule seminars throughout the year at various locations,  we can offer them at your location for outdoor organizations, clubs, camps, resorts, etc.  Please call for more information.

S-ISS-1: INTRODUCTION TO SURVIVAL SKILLS (3 Hrs.)

This is an introduction seminar to Wilderness Survival Skills.  It includes topics such as the basics on building survival kits, fire starting, survival shelters, water purification, signaling, map & compass and knives for survival.

S-SK-1: SURVIVAL KIT BUILDING BASICS  (3 Hrs.)

Taught by the author of the book, "Build the Perfect Survival Kit", this is a comprehensive seminar on the basics of building a survival kit!  Get an in depth understanding of why you should carry a survival kit, the planning phase, and the 4-P's of building a kit.  Learn the component groups that are essential for a complete kit, selection of containers to hold your kit, and how to package it so you will always carry it with you.  This seminar provides all the basics so you will be able to build your own survival kit.

S-FSS-1: BASIC FIRE STARTING SKILLS  (2 Hrs.)

Fire making skills are very important in a survival situation.  This is a great seminar for basic skills in fire making techniques.  You will learn the various types of fire making components you should carry in a survival kit to ensure you will get a fire going in a survival situation.  Each fire making component will be demonstrated, and if time permits, you will get to try some of them.  Learn about the various types of tinder, and how to make or collect it.  Use and construction of a Fire Bow will be demonstrated.

OUTDOOR SKILLS COURSES

Our courses are designed to provide the student with a hands-on experience so they will leave with more confidence in their ability to actually use their new skills in the outdoors.

C-MCSW-2: MAP AND COMPASS SKILLS WEEKEND

A lot of people are going into the outdoors today with only a GPS unit.  Unfortunately they can fail, the batteries can go dead, and there are areas where they just don't work.  We are not anti-GPS, we just believe you should have basic map and compass skills as a back-up plan.  You will learn in this course the basics for using a map and compass, and then go out into the field and practice these skills.  Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

This course starts at 4:00 PM on Friday Night and ends at 5:00 PM on Sunday.
